Meet your counsellor

I’m here because I believe in the power of counselling. When we are vulnerable about our struggles, we can begin to change. In this, counselling can transform lives, heal hurting relationships, and restore people to right relationship with ourselves and with each other.

With extensive clinical experience in couples and family counselling, I bring a lifelong passion for relationships to my work.

All relationships come with challenge and joy: a marriage, a father/son bond, a friendship, even your own relationship to yourself. These relationships can be sites of stress or joy, pain or delight. My job is to help you process the stress and pain, so that you can move towards freedom from whatever’s weighing you down.

In our counselling sessions, no subject is off limits. With compassion you can count on, I’m ready to hear about all of it. Whatever you bring to the table, I promise to listen with a non-judgmental, non-anxious, and collaborative approach. Whatever feels hard or vulnerable or impossible, we’ll work on it together.

Together, we'll walk the path towards real, lasting change—change that impacts every sphere of your life, and every relationship it holds.

Spending time with my wife and children, whether in nature or at home.

Walking our fluffy high-energy dog, Walter, in the valley.

Camping at the lake with my family—it’s our favourite annual tradition.

Connecting with friends. My pals from high school are still some of my best buds. (If you can’t tell, relationships are a high value of mine.)

Coaching my son’s hockey and football teams, and my daughter’s soccer team. It’s one of my favourite things in this season of life.

An Adaptive Approach

With training in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), Sue Johnson’s emotionally focused couples therapy (EFT), the Gottman method for couples, Gordon Neufeld and Dan Siegel’s work on parenting, and more, I weave together different therapeutic approaches based on who you are and your unique needs. But this is all background noise. Ideally, when you’re in my office, it just feels like we’re having an open, honest conversation. I’ll listen carefully, ask questions, and help you work through life’s tough stuff.

It’s only by naming our struggles that we can begin to address their pain or patterns at the root—and from here, begin to experience true healing.
